Sales Tax Increase / Measure H
Thank you, Arcata Voters for your support of Measure H
Measure H, the three-quarter (3/4) cent tax to support community-identified priorities, received 65% voter support in the November 5, 2024, election. The estimated $2.6 million in additional revenue each year will fund emergency and climate change response, services to address homelessness and its impacts, mental health response to crisis, and maintenance and expansion of sidewalks, bike lanes, transit, roads, parks and trails.
Effective April 1, 2025, the total sales tax rate for the City of Arcata will increase from 8.5% to 10.25%. This increase includes the City of Arcata Measure H - .75% approved by Arcata voters, plus Humboldt County Measure O - 1% county-wide increase, also approved by County voters on November 5, 2024.

What is Measure H?
To sustain vital programs and services, the Arcata City Council unanimously voted to place a three-quarter (3/4) cent tax, named Measure H, on the November 5, 2024 ballot (Staff Report). Measure H is estimated to generate $2.6 million annually, to fund programs that Arcata voters have indicated are important such as:
- Emergency and Climate Change Response
- Services addressing homelessness and its impacts
- Mental health response to crisis, and
- Sidewalks, bike lanes, transit, roads and trails.
