|2021 Manhole Rehabilitation Project||The City of Arcata has contracted with H&R Plumbing & Drain Cleaning for this project. Work involves rehabilitation of 17 sewer manholes located at Aldergrove Rd, Ericson Way, Frank Martin Ct, Anderson Ln, Bayside Park Farm (Parking Lot) and Old Arcata Rd; and 2 lift stations located at: Samoa Blvd and LK Wood Blvd.
||Construction work will begin Monday, June 21st on Aldergrove Rd between West End Rd and Ericson Way. Additional work will continue at various locations throughout Arcata for approximately two (2) to four (4) weeks thereafter. Portions of the work will require temporary lane closures. Traffic control and flaggers will be in place to help mitigate disruptions in the roadway. Although delays are expected to be minimal, members of the community are encouraged to follow all safety directions and use alternate routes if possible.
Construction will take place Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm, and on some days the contractor may extend work hours from 7am to 6pm.

|Fiber Installation Project||Lightwave Construction is working in portions of Arcata to construct new conduit and fiber infrastructure for Vero Networks. This system will enable broadband connectivity to high-bandwidth customers in the Arcata/Eureka area such as large enterprise, education, government & carrier/last mile providers.
As a state-recognized public utility, Vero Networks will be performing work in the City right-of-way under a permit issued by the City of Arcata. The City has imposed certain requirements to lessen the impact of this work in Arcata’s neighborhoods, which can be found in more detail here.

|Arcata Ridge Trail - Fickle Hill Segment||The City of Arcata (City) proposes to complete improvements to a trail segment in the Arcata Community Forest Sunnybrae Tract in Arcata, California. The project site is immediately south of Fickle Hill Road, within parcel APN 500-022-004, a 6.17-acre parcel owned by the City of Arcata. The proposed Project will construct approximately 1,600 linear feet of recreational trail. The project involves construction, use, and maintenance of the recreational trail segment. The project also includes a crossing of Fickle Hill Road to facilitate recreational use connectivity. The trail segment connects two tracts that are part of the greater Arcata Community Forest and is part of the Arcata Ridge Trail.

|2020 Bayside Paving Project||The City of Arcata has contracted with Kernen Construction for this project, and work will consist of asphalt paving and the installation of accessible concrete driveways and ramps. The project also includes, but is not limited to, minor roadway excavation, roadway striping, water service upgrades, sewer improvements and drainage improvements.
Construction work will begin on Monday, June 1 on Bayside Road between Union Street and Buttermilk Ln, and additional work on Chester Ave will begin in late June or July.
Work will take place Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on some days the contractor may extend work hours from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.. On days of scheduled work, community members are encouraged to follow all safety directions and traffic control devices within the project area.

This project is scheduled to be complete by August 28, 2020, and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
|All paving and valve raising has been completed on Bayside Road and road striping is scheduled to begin in early October. Additional road work and paving on Chester Ave and Beverly Dr has begun, Thursday, October 1st.
On days of scheduled work, access to Bayside Rd, Chester Ave and Beverly Dr may be temporarily interrupted or detoured. Additionally, residents may experience extended delays exiting driveways during grinding and paving. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Members of the community are encouraged to take alternate routes during construction and to follow all safety directions and traffic control devices within the project area.
Due to added storm-drain and sewer repairs, weather, and a pause to construction due to air quality concerns, the project is now scheduled to be completed by Friday, October 16, 2020.
