In May 2017, Arcata joined the community choice energy (CCE) program provided by Redwood Coast Energy Authority (RCEA). This program offers local renewable energy and lower energy prices to Humboldt County residents and businesses.
In addition to the base program, which provides over 40% renewable power to the county, RCEA offers a 100% renewable REpower+ option. An average household pays just five to six dollars per month for this "opt-up" service. The City of Arcata has chosen to "opt-up" and now all its public facilities operate on 100% renewable electricity!
RCEA also offers no-cost energy efficiency assessments for homes and businesses. Applications are available through RCEA's website, or click here for a residential application and click here for a business application.
