[ARCHIVED] The Isaacson Sustainability Transportation Infrastructure (STI) Improvement Project Began on July 31

The City of Arcata announced today that the Isaacson Sustainability Infrastructure Improvement (STI) Improvement Project will begin making infrastructure improvements on Monday, July 31.

The City of Arcata has contracted with RAO Construction for this project. Work involves repairing existing sidewalks and installing new sidewalks that are ADA compliant, repairing sections of roadway and roadway markings and the addition of two new bus stops and a solar push button crosswalk system. The areas where work will be occurring is as follows:

  • Ninth Street and G Street.
  • G Street (In between Eighth Street and Ninth Street)
  • Eighth Street and G Street
  • Eighth Street (In between G Street and H Street)
  • Eighth Street & H Street
  • Eighth Street (In between H Street and I Street)
  • Seventh Street and I Street
  • I Street (In between Seventh Street and Sixth Street)
  • Sixth Street and I Street
  • I Street (In between Sixth Street and Fifth Street)
  • Fifth Street and I Street
  • I Street (In between Fifth Street and Samoa Boulevard)
  • I Street and Samoa Boulevard - G Street (In front of Rotary Park)
  • H Street (Near Arcata Marsh entrance on H Street)

Construction work will begin on Monday, July 31 on G Street (between Eighth Street & Ninth Street). Additional work will continue at various locations throughout Arcata for approximately 18 weeks, weather permitting. Portions of the work may require temporary lane closures and sidewalk closures. Traffic control and flaggers will be in place to help mitigate disruptions in the roadway. Although delays are expected to be minimal, members of the community are encouraged to follow all safety directions and use alternate routes if possible. Construction will take place Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on some days the contractor may extend work hours from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

More information will be provided as it becomes available. The project is scheduled to be completed by Nov. 27.
