The City of Arcata is in the process of making improvements to the City's Wastewater Treatment Facilities.
The Wastewater Treatment Facility Plan and Plant Improvement Project is a two-phase project which includes making renovations to the Wastewater Treatment Plant by replacing many of the nearly 40-year-old plant’s components, fixing or replacing infrastructure, installing a new discharge system to meet state requirements and updating the plant’s disinfection method from chlorine to ultra-violet light, which is a more thorough and environmentally friendly method of wastewater disinfection.
