[ARCHIVED] Medication Disposal Bin Now Available to the Public at Arcata Police Department

APD Badge

Arcata Police Department is now offering community members a safe and easy place to dispose of unused or expired prescription medications. Medication drop-off bins help keep communities, waterways and wildlife safe. Thanks to grants from the KidCents program and the Rite Aid Foundation, a medication disposal bin is now set up inside the APD lobby located at 736 F Street. Drop offs can be made Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. Community members are asked to remove medications from their containers and place them in a sealed or zipped plastic bag before dropping them into the bin. Please note that illegal substances, lotions or liquids, inhalers, aerosol cans, thermometers, hydrogen peroxide or sharps (needles, syringes or EpiPens) cannot be accepted. For sharps disposal, please contact Humboldt Waste Management Authority at 707-268-8680 or visit hwma.net.
