Brett Watson was sworn in as Arcata's fifth City Councilmember at the Wednesday, April 19 meeting. Watson's first meeting dealt with a good cross section of City issues from wastewater treatment plant upgrades to reviewing Arcata's investment policies.
Watson was appointed by unanimous Council vote after a long forum where six candidates answered questions from the Council and the public over three hours. Watson replaces longtime Councilmember Mark Wheetley, who resigned earlier this year to become Fortuna's City Manager.
The Arcata City Council meets regularly on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. at Arcata City Hall. Council meetings are webstreamed live on this website and televised live on Access Humboldt/Suddenlink Channel 10. The public is encouraged to attend, watch and participate.
