Effective April 1, 2025, the total sales tax rate for the City of Arcata will increase from 8.5% to 10.25%. This increase includes the City of Arcata’s Measure H - .75% approved by Arcata voters on November 5, 2024, plus Humboldt County’s Measure O - 1% county-wide increase approved by County voters.
All taxpayers should have received a special notice regarding new sales and use tax rates effective April 1, 2025, via e-notice or a letter format that has a “Special Notice” on the top. The notice posted by the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration is also available on their Special Notices and Notification Letters website.
Measure H is estimated to bring in $2.6 million in revenue per year. Arcata will begin to receive funds in late June 2025 to support community priorities such as emergency and climate change response, services to address homelessness and its impacts, mental health response to crisis, and maintenance and expansion of sidewalks, bike lanes, transit, roads, parks and trails.
