  1. equity arcata's Home Away from Home Free Meal & Free Stuff Distribution Day

    October 4, 2020, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM @ Outside of the D Street Neighborhood Center

    College students! equity arcata volunteers miss seeing you at potlucks, so come join us for a socially distant free dinner & free stuff distribution! All local HSU & CR students are invited to pick up a prepackaged meal, household supplies & voter registration information. Please don’t come if you’re feeling sick! Masks, social distancing & a student ID/proof of college enrollment is required. Catering will be provided by A Taste of Bim, and vegetarian & meat options will be available. This distribution has been approved by the Humboldt County Department of Health & Human Services, and food & free stuff will be available while supplies last. Non-student members of the community who'd like to make a free stuff donation can drop off items at Arcata City Hall, between 11 AM-5 PM, until Friday, October 2. Items being accepted are laundry detergent, toothpaste, toiletries, toilet paper, household cleaning supplies, masks and menstrual supplies. All donated items must be new & unopened.

Volunteer Work Days

  1. Valley West Socially Distant Clean the Sidewalk Days

    October 4, 2020, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM @ Valley West Park

    Valley West (Socially Distant) Clean the Sidewalk Days are happening the first Sunday of every month! Participants of all ages are welcome to attend, and work will include picking up non-hazardous items left behind in the neighborhood's public spaces. To participate, meet at Valley West Park on Hallen Drive at 9 AM. Volunteers must bring their own facial coverings, and social distancing best practices will be enforced. Gloves, hand sanitizer, and all necessary cleanup tools will provided, and those who wish to bring their own supplies are welcome to do so. All participants will be expected to sign day volunteer agreements and COVID-19 liability waivers. If you have questions or have trouble finding the group day-of, please text or call 707-601-4247.
