The City of Arcata uses CodeRED to send emergency notifications by phone, email, text and social media to keep citizens informed of evacuation notices, utility outages, water main breaks, fires, floods, chemical spills or other emergencies.
The City may also activate CodeRED to send general notifications to registered subscribers to let them know about non-life-threatening health and safety matters such as planned road closures, water main repairs, water and power service interruptions. You can receive these types of notifications by electing to receive general alerts.
There is no charge to register or use CodeRED and your personal information will be kept confidential. Registering for CodeRED is quick and easy:
Arcata residents and visitors can receive enhanced public safety alerts no matter where they are with the CodeRED Mobile Alert app. This is a free public safety app for both Android and iPhone users.
The CodeRED Mobile Alert app delivers general and emergency alerts to individuals within an impacted geographical area. You can even receive timely notifications when you're on the road and away from home with this app.
If you are currently a CodeRED subscriber and have already registered your mobile phone to receive notifications from the City of Arcata, you will continue to receive calls. If you download the CodeRED Mobile Alert app, you will also be able to receive alerts via your smartphone anywhere in the country, including Hawaii, Puerto Rico and Alaska.
