31ST ANNUAL LANTERN CEREMONY SATURDAY, AUGUST 3, 2013

The Floating Lantern Ceremony came to Arcata over 30 years ago as a way to remember victims of the U.S. bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Join the community for the 31st Annual Arcata Lantern Floating Ceremony on Saturday, August 3, 2013. Gather at Klopp Lake, in the Arcata Marsh for a 7:30 p.m. program with lantern floating beginning at sunset. Make a lantern at the Farmer’s Market the same morning between 9:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., limited supplies are available. The Floating Lantern ceremony is an opportunity to offer spiritual consolation for people we miss, departed loved ones, ancestors, cultures and all we hold dear.
