57 volunteers build Community Forest Trail, improve Janes Creek vegetation
There was a lot of activity going on in the Arcata Community Forest and along Janes Creek on Saturday, November 16. Twenty three volunteers constructed the Samuels Loop Trail adjacent to Trail 10 in the Forest, and at Janes Creek at Cropley Way, there were 34 volunteers working with Humboldt Fish Action Council removing 12 cubic yards of invasive plants and planting native shrubs on the creek bank. Thank you to everyone for improving Arcata's environment and recreational opportunities!
The next volunteer workday will be on Saturday, December 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary to remove invasive plants. The Friends of the Arcata Marsh will partner with the City for that work day. For more information, please call (707) 825-2163.
