Thank you to Saturday's Janes Creek Meadows volunteers!
There were 30 volunteers from the Humboldt State University Natural Resources Club at the Saturday, November 2 workday along Janes Creek adjacent to the Janes Creek Meadows subdivision. Volunteers cleared 400 lineal feet of reed canary grass from the creek banks and channel and sprigged between 200 and 300 willow sprigs along the bank edge, infilling gaps from last year's work areas and places that have received substantial “deer rub.”
Once again, Humboldt Fish Action Council staff members Doug, Suzanne and Sara played a significant role in supplying tools as well as project supervision and helped make this a successful workday.
The next volunteer workday will be on Saturday, November 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., partnering with Humboldt Fish Action Council and the HSU Natural Resources Club again to pick up trash along Jolly Giant and Janes creek. Volunteers will meet near Bug Press at 1461 M Street, Arcata, at 9 a.m.
