Thank you to Saturday's Janes Creek volunteers!
Thank you to the diehard dozen Humboldt State University Natural Resources Club volunteers who cut out 12 cubic yards of persistent ivy and other non-native plant species from the banks of Janes Creek on Saturday, October 26. This hard work prepares the way for planting at the next volunteer work day on Saturday, November 2. Four different neighbors from the immediate neighborhood visited the worksite and were mightily impressed and grateful for the volunteers' work to improve fish habitat through non-native species removal.
The next volunteer workday will be Saturday, November 2 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers will meet at the Janes Creek Meadows Park to remove reed canary grass from the Janes Creek channel and to plant native plants along Janes Creek in the Westwood neighborhood at Cropley Way and Hilfiker Drive. Call (707) 825-2163 for more information.
