PG&E Reconductor Project

Project Summary

Beginning June 10, 2013, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) will be upgrading their overhead electric transmission lines in Arcata from its substation at Sixth and I Streets. The long-awaited Arcata 1105 Reconductor Project will enable PG&E to more reliably service Arcata's increasing electricity needs. Construction by Oregon contractor Wilson Construction Company will take place throughout the summer and will affect large sections of Arcata.

PG&E customers whose electrical service will be interrupted will be notified in advance by PG&E. These customers will also receive a post-project letter letting them know when PG&Es work has been completed.

Work will take place from approximately 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. on weekdays. Traffic flow will be interrupted during construction and suggested detour route and work area maps are posted below. Please click on the links below for work area maps.

ALL BUSINESSES WILL REMAIN OPEN DURING CONSTRUCTION.

Project Update through August 2013

PG&E contractors will continue working in various locations around Arcata, including Foster Avenue, Mad River Road and Janes Road.

Drivers, please follow detour routes posted on changeable message signs. See Truck Detour Map posted below.
