H STREET CONSTRUCTION BEGINS
STARTING FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, H STREET CLOSED TO TRAFFIC BETWEEN 10th AND 11th STREETS
ALL H STREET MERCHANTS OPEN FOR BUSINESS

NOTE: Beginning Friday, September 30, H Street will be closed between 10th and 11th Streets. Vehicle traffic will once again be able to access H Street between 9th and 10th Streets. Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this much needed and expedited infrastructure investment project.

Construction on the City of Arcata’s H Street Improvement Project will begin on Tuesday, September 6. City contractor Kernen Construction will begin work at 7 a.m. and H Street will be closed to vehicle traffic between 9th and 10th Streets. Drivers are asked to take “I” Street and other alternate routes. During this accelerated construction project which is expected to be complete by Sunday, October 30, H Street shops will remain open for business.

The City’s H Street improvement project is a six- to nine-week construction project that will completely replace the aging water and sewer mains and connections; improve the drainage system; completely remove, regrade, repave and restripe the roadway; replace existing sidewalks with new eight-foot wide sidewalks and install traffic calming measures. This project is designed to improve pedestrian access in the downtown Arcata area.
