Celebrate National Trails Day:  Repair Trails in the Arcata Community Forest on Saturday, June 4, 2011

The City of Arcata, Big Foot Mountain Bike Club and the American Hiking Society invite you to celebrate National Trails Day by working on Trail 13 in the Arcata Community Forest on Saturday, June 4, 2011 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers will meet at Trail 13 or the Fickle Hill trailhead at the Trail 9 entrance to Arcata Community Forest.

Now in its fifteenth year, National Trails Day — the largest single-day trails and outdoor celebration in the country — consists of activities including hiking, biking, horseback riding, paddling, trail dedications, instructional workshops, park clean-ups, trail work projects and much more.

Gloves, tools, beverages and snacks will be provided at Saturday’s work day.  Be sure to wear work clothes and closed-toe shoes or boots and to bring water and rain gear.
