Parks & Recreation Committee

The Parks and Recreation Committee was established in 1999 by the adoption of Ordinance No. 1292, which replaced the Parks and Recreation Commission established by Ordinance No. 636. The Committee's primary function is to advise the City Council and commissions on matters pertaining to public recreation, parklands, local and regional trails, art, literature, music and other related activities; to establish user rental fee schedules, rules and regulations for use of parks, sports fields and public facilities; and to make recommendations for acquisition, development and improvement of parklands and recreational areas. The Parks and Recreation Committee’s powers and duties are outlined in Arcata Municipal Code Sections 2231 to 2233.

Meetings & Agendas

Meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month, or at the call of the chair, at 6:00 p.m. at the Arcata Community Center. See the meeting agendas and archives.

Committee Members

The Parks and Recreation Committee consists of seven members who have interest, knowledge or experience in recreational activities and parkland development.
