Arcata Mural Walk

Tues., 5/20/14 - 3:30pm  Join us on a guided walking tour of Arcata's public art and murals. Meet at the Arcata Community Center Teen Room.



Clay Workshops

Mon., 5/19 and Tue., 5/27 - 3:30pm Join us at Arts in the Afternoon and make your own bowl using the wheel, pinch pot or mold method or sculpt anything you can imagine. All supplies provided. No experience necessary. 



Arts in the Afternoon is in session!

Mondays - Thursdays 3:00-5:30pm  All junior high and high school students are welcome to join this after school arts drop-in program. We explore art history, art techniques, conceptual concepts, field trips, community projects and more. New projects happening every day.Registration is required for the semester but feel free to drop-in one afternoon to check it out! More info below.

$20/semester for Arcata residents or $21/semester for non-residents

All workshops are free and open to students ages 12-18 unless otherwise noted. Free for students enrolled in Arts in the Afternoon. Pre-registration is not required. For more info or questions or call 707-822-7091.

Arts Alley at The Oyster Fest - June 14th

 City Arts and Scrap Humboldt are partnering to create a collaborative art piece that will come to life throughtout the Oyster Festival. Community spirit, creative resuse and collaboration will be highlighted in this project. Please join us and contribute!

City Arts students will be displaying a collective paper miniature garden as part of Scrap's "Think Inside the Box" show for April, located at 101 H St. Friday 4/11- 6-9pm and Tuesdays-Saturdays 11am-6pm.

Bayside Park Community Farm & Garden has student created ceramic garden plot markers. Stop by to check them out, buy some veggies and take a walk around the farm! Located at 930 Old Arcta Rd, open daily sunrise to sunset.





Arts in the Afternoon is an afterschool open art studio for youth in 6th-12th grade. All art materials are provided. One on one instruction and open studio times are available. Teens can explore: 
- Ceramics - Pottery Wheel Throwing - Glazing and Firing - Oil Pastels - Watercolor -Acrylic Painting - Collage - Drawing - Printmaking - Jewlery making -Sculpture - Steet Art - Digital Arts - Photo/Video - And more!

Schedule: Mondays 2:45-5:30; Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays 3:00-5:30.

COST : $20/semester for Arcata Residents; $21 for non-residents.

Leader-In-Training for Art Camp - Teen Summer Opportunity


Leaders-In-Training will work with youth ages 4-12, helping to plan and lead art activities, fieldtrips and more! LITs can sign up for specific weeks, at $10/week for residents.

LITs gain job experience and references, make new friends and can earn community service hours. For more info, contact the recreation office at 822-7091. 




Volunteers wanted! Are you a local artist, artisan or professional that would like to share your skills with students? Are you an artist looking to gain experience with art education or working with youth? Are you an experienced teaching artist that would like to volunteer or work with City Arts on a project?  We'd love to hear from you! Email with your contact info, experience and interests.

Oyster Fest 2014 - June 14th - looking for volunteers to help facilitate community art projects in the "Arts Alley". Have fun and help make a really awesome art project come to life!
