Commissions, Committees & Boards
The City Council appoints more than 90 community members to the various Committees, Commissions, Boards and Task Forces. With the exception of the Boards of Permit and Handicapped Access Appeals, Commissions, Committees and Task Forces provide advice and/or recommendations to the Council, with final action the responsibility of the City Council. The Planning Commission and Historic & Design Review Commission do have decision-making authority, which can be appealed to the City Council. A staff liaison is appointed by the City Manager to assist each of the advisory bodies in carrying out their roles and in ensuring compliance with protocol.
