    A wide array of local, farm fresh foods are available at the year-round Arcata Plaza Farmers’ Market! Visit the market each week to enjoy the freshest fruits and vegetables, humanely raised meats and eggs, honey, jams, flowers and plant starts. Depending on the time of year, local goat cheese and fresh caught fish can also be found. This market also features the very best bands of Humboldt County, with performances each week from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. The Arcata Plaza Farmers' Market is open every Saturday rain or shine! Please leave your 4-legged friends at home because multiple State, County and Municipal regulations prohibit pets at Certified Farmers' Markets and food facilities. Please also note that smoking of any kind or unauthorized vending is not permitted.

    June 22, 2019, 8:30 AM - 11:00 AM @ Arcata Marsh & Wildlife Sanctuary

    Bring your binoculars and have a great morning birding! Join Redwood Region Audubon Society volunteers for a guided bird walking tour of the Arcata Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary. No reservations are required! This free tour takes place rain or shine and is open to all-ages. Participants are instructed to meet in the parking lot at the end of South I Street near Klopp Lake at 8:30 am.

    Join Friends of the Arcata Marsh (FOAM) volunteers for a tour of the wildlife sanctuary. This free tour takes place rain or shine! No reservations are necessary. Participants are instructed to meet at the Interpretive Center at 2 PM.

Volunteer Work Days

  1. Volunteer Work Day: Maintain Trails in Sunny Brae Forest

    June 22, 2019, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM @ Sunny Brae Forest. Participants are asked to meet at the Margaret Lane trailhead at 9 AM.

    The City of Arcata’s Environmental Services Department and the Humboldt Trails Council Volunteer Trail Stewards are seeking volunteers to assist with maintaining Sunny Brae Forest on Saturday, June 22 from 9 AM to 1 PM. Work will include brushing and cleaning trails. Participants are asked to meet at 9 AM at the Margaret Lane trailhead. To find the trailhead on Margaret Lane, head to the Sunny Brae neighborhood in Arcata, drive up Buttermilk Lane and turn left at the roundabout onto Margaret Lane, and drive uphill one block. Parking will be available on Margaret Lane and on the streets nearby. Volunteers are encouraged to bring water, gloves and to wear protective footwear and clothing. Extra gloves, tools and lunch will be provided. Volunteers of all ages are welcome, and work will take place rain or shine.

  2. Help Clean Up the Arcata Marsh & Wildlife Sanctuary with Humboldt Pet Supply

    June 22, 2019, 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM @ Arcata Marsh Interpretive Center

    Our Environmental Services Department and Humboldt Pet Supply are seeking volunteers to assist with cleaning up the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary on Saturday, June 22. Volunteers of all ages are welcome, especially families! Work will include walking trails and picking up trash and pet waste left behind. To keep things fun, Humboldt Pet Supply has put together a painted rock hunt for cleanup volunteers. Participants will have the opportunity to win various prizes from local businesses including Cafe Brio, Alchemy Distillery, Far North Climbing Gym, Pasta Luego, Redwood Yogurt and more. Participants are asked to meet at 10:30 AM at the check-in station located at the beginning of trail near the Interpretive Center. All are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy refreshments and snacks before embarking on the cleanup adventure. Participants are encouraged to wear appropriate clothing and bring a reusable water bottle. Clean-up supplies, materials and refreshments will be provided.
