City Offices Closed for Memorial Day & Flags Flown at Half-Staff
City of Arcata offices will be closed on Monday, May 27, 2013, in observance of Memorial Day. The national flag will be flown at half-staff from sunrise to noon in honor of all American soldiers who gave their lives in war. Offices will re-open at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28.

Help build the Arcata Ridge Trail on National Trails Day, June 1
The City, the Humboldt Trails Council's Volunteer Trail Stewards and the American Hiking Society invite you to help build the Beith Creek Loop, part of the Arcata Ridge Trail in the Sunny Brae Forest on Saturday, June 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Everyone's welcome! Meet near the corner of Margaret and Buttermilk Lanes in Sunny Brae and wear work clothes and closed-toe shoes. Volunteers can enter to win great raffle prizes from generous sponsors. The City's Environmental Services Department invites you to a guided redwood ecology hike into the Jacoby Creek Forest on Saturday, June 1 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Jacoby Creek Forest is normally closed to the public, so take this opportunity to experience this beautiful redwood environment and learn about its plant life from City staffers. Space is limited to 25 hikers, so please call (707) 822-8184 to reserve your space today.
