Thank you to Saturday's South Fork Janes Creek Loop Trail volunteers!

Twenty diehard volunteers eschewed Memorial Day weekend pleasures to wheelbarrow seven cubic yards of crushed rock (uphill!), armoring a swath of the South Fork Janes Creek hiker, biker and equestrian loop trail. Thank you to the Humboldt Trails Council's Volunteer Trail Stewards and equestrienne Jacqueline Debets for your hard work on Saturday! The next volunteer workday will be on National Trails Day, Saturday, June 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. constructing the Panorama Court trailhead access to the Sunny Brae Forest. Please call (707) 825-2163 or email EServices@CityofArcata.org for more information and meeting locations.

Moving out? Donate your stuff to a worthy thrift store!

When moving out, save precious landfill space and take your reusable stuff to businesses listed in "Don't Dump and Run--Recycle, Reuse and Donate!" the City's guide to Arcata's thrift stores, book stores, hazardous waste and recycling collection facilities. Please do not leave household goods in driveways, sidewalks, streets or parks. The recycling guide is available online here, at City Hall, the Arcata Library and Arcata laundromats.

Thank you to Saturday's 46 Shay Park volunteers!

A total of 46 volunteers from Arcata High School, the general public, and the City of Arcata's Watershed Warrior Program came out to Saturday's Shay Park volunteer workday. Volunteers painted over graffiti, sanded vandalized bridge rails, rebuilt a puncheon bridge approach, removed invasive ivy and morning glory, rehabbed an illegal campsite, and picked up trash. Thank you for sprucing up this neighborhood park!
