National Pollution Prevention Week runs from September 15 through 21, and is a great time to learn how to keep household and toxic waste out of landfills and waterways. Instead of pouring old pesticides, paints and cleaning products down the drain, take them to the Humboldt Waste Management Authority's Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 1059 West Hawthorne Street in Eureka. For just $5 on the first Saturday of each month, you can dispose of up to 15 gallons of hazardous material, and keep fish, wildlife and our community safe.More pollution prevention tips
